Holland had been cold enough this winter that they got to skate on the canals again, which was one of my favorite things from my youth. It had been a lot of years since skating on natural ice was possible. I felt a little homesick when my mom sent pictures! So we decided to take the girls skating on a tiny ice-rink in Atlanta, to join in the Dutch skating craze. We were going to go on New Year's eve after watching a show from Cirque du Soleil (jungle fantasy, absolutely amazing), arrived just after 6 pm only to learn that it closed only that evening at 6 pm!
So we tried again one very cold evening 2 weeks later, and sure enough, the complete ice-rink was gone! Must have been a holiday treat only on which we missed out. Oh well. We played in a playpark for a while, and Tjonkje (Jasper) got to go down the slide for the first time all by himself. Here some cute pictures of the kids.
