We started school a little late this year, as we took the Utah trip during the first week of school (even though we just finished the 11-week long summer! The kids were semi-excited to go, by Boefje was! I must say fourth grade started quite a bit different than we were used to. up to 3rd grade the girls were always welcomed by their teachers with a warm hug and welcome. We would be able to introduce ourselves, as well as the girls, and make soem small talk. Well, maybe because we missed the first week, but it was quite different. the girls were trying to go up to heir their teachers to introduce themselves, but didn't even have a chance. 'Sit down' was the frioendly answer. Hmmm.
They seemed to really enjoy their advanced classes though. They also started to use the computerr more, e.g. using the internet to find out their homework and special math assignments. The math assignments were not really checked for appropriateness for 4th graders though, as one of the first assignments was to solve a n algebraic equation mith multiple solutions. Hmmm, a little much. Not really the best way to encourage kids to like math, when it is that far over their heads.
Here some pictures of their first days.
